2016 R+W ALL-STAR AWARDS: SHOP WORKER – TANNER JENKINS, LEAD TECHNICIAN

Ratchet + Wrench, a leading industry publication, has chosen Tanner Jenkins as the Shop Worker of the Year for 2016. Tanner, our No-Comebacks Kid, was chosen from nearly twenty-five nominees because of his hard work and passion for the auto care industry. As Kim explained for the article, “Tanner is a leader not only in his knowledge and skills, but other techs look to him because of his ability to think things through, his dedication to the customer and the business, and his commitment to the industry”. Tanner shared with the writer, “Our Philosophy here is, ‘We’re going to treat your cars just like we would treat our own,’ And obviously if I work on my own car, I’m going to make sure it’s done right the first time.” Tanner continues, “So I carry that philosophy through to working on customers’ vehicles every day, and I want it to rub off on every else.” Obviously, we could not be any more proud of Tanner and all of employees as we all embrace that same dedication to our customers!

When interviewed for the article on “How to Face Adversity and Win: Hard-knocks lessons from four shops”, After a few years of being in business, it felt like we were blessed with an incredible growing business, but all we did was work more and more hours and felt the effects of business exhaustion. We needed help with learning how to be more efficient and productive. In the article we shared our experience of having to learn what our company goals should be and how to achieve them. It feels great to be able to share our experiences with other shop owners all over the world! Improving the image of the industry one shop at a time!

KIM AUERNHEIMER IS FEATURED ON REMARKABLE RESULTS PODCASTS

Remarkable Results connects people that care about building a stronger automotive aftermarket and to bring industry leaders together to discuss the industry, training, insights and strategies. Kim’s episode kicked off a new listening genre: Married Partners: A Wife’s Perspective. It was time to do a special series like this because there are so many successful shop owner ‘partners’ that have great stories to tell from the wife’s perspective. Many business coaches say the wife is a large influencer in the success of the business. Carm Capriotto, the shows founder and host, stated that it was an enlightening view of our industries most prevalent business partnerships. Kim shared about the value of a business coach, three things she would do right now and she discusses technician availability, industry image-reputation and training. She tells the story on how much more respect she has for Rob since joining the business.

We were quite honored when Auto Inc. asked to feature our shop. We had an opportunity to share the advantages and disadvantages of family members working together. We got to share our blessed experience on our amazing growth in just the first six years of being open. From opening our business in the back of a warehouse house to moving in to a bona-fide shop building with three lifts and six employees (just a note…since this article was written, we purchased a shop with 10 bays, 8 lifts and now have 10 employees). This article is basically a who we are, where we came from and how we got to where we were then. It is great to see the beginning of our journey story being told. Stay tuned!

AUTO INC. “TOP 10 WEBSITES” OF 2012

Rounding out our Top 10 Websites for 2013 is Cool Springs Automotive, a six-bay shop specializing in Toyotas, with an emphasis on Lexus vehicles. The beautiful black and white photography throughout the website is a standout, as also its “Learning Center”. It’s chock full of consumer knowledge, educational videos, FAQs and offers several reasons as to why the shop is different from its competitors. Owner Rob Auernheimer is focused on “sweating the small stuff” as his website says, and paying attention to the little things that can make a big difference in where customers choose to have their vehicles serviced. Every page throughout the site has easy access to customer reviews and an online appointment scheduler. The staff section of the site continues to feature great photography, along with bios of each team member establishing credibility with current and future customers. It uses Facebook to promote various shop specials, which have been well received by its followers. This is a fine-looking site with lots of great content. It would be difficult not to choose Cool Springs Automotive after visiting its website.
